Our outreach program enables us to provide meaningful assistance to Cambodian families in the area who are struggling to get by.  Many children in Cambodia have loving families but go without adequate nutrition, education, and medical care, and these children are the target of our outreach efforts.  One of the main ways we help is through education.  We provide local school fees and private English school fees to children who otherwise would not be able to attend school.  Rainbow Foundation staff meet with the school teachers of every child we support to ensure they are attending school every day and doing well in their studies.  We provide each of these children with a school uniform twice a year as well as all necessary school supplies like notebooks, pencils, and schoolbags.  We also invite the children from our outreach program to attend various trainings and workshops at Rainbow House.

Our outreach program provides emergency medical assistance to families in need as well.  This includes sending children to specialized doctors in Phnom Penh, arranging emergency care to children with typhoid or other dangerous diseases, or providing milk and vitamins to malnourished young children.  In addition to this help, we are able to provide material assistance to families in the area.  Whenever we have material donations that are larger than our needs, we distribute them to area villages.  This includes clothing and shoes for adults and children, shampoo, soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes, school supplies, rice, coloring books and toys.  We would love to continue to expand this new program by providing rental assistance, dental care, and computer lessons to children in the community. In May 2008, Rainbow started a new outreach program to provide school books and supplies to children in need.  We are currently providing 150 children with school books and supplies.  Over the summer months, we would like to raise funds to increase the number of children we support. Our goal is to provide books and supplies to 650 children by the start of the school year in October 2008.
